1 Definitions & Scope
In these Terms & Conditions ("Terms"), the following definitions apply:
- "Platform" means the CMCopys website at https://cmcopys.com, including all subpages, tools, and services.
- "PDF Tools" means the suite of free online document processing utilities available at https://cmcopys.com/pdftools.php, including but not limited to: Merge PDF, Split PDF, JPG to PDF, PDF to JPG, PDF to Word, Compress PDF, Rotate PDF, Unlock PDF, Protect PDF, and Watermark PDF.
- "User" / "You" means any individual or entity who accesses or uses the PDF Tools.
- "We" / "Us" / "Company" means CM Copys, a sole proprietorship registered at CM Copys, Bikasipura, Bengaluru, Karnataka – 560085, India.
- "Uploaded File" means any PDF, image, Word, Excel, or PowerPoint document uploaded by the User for processing.
- "Processed File" means the output document generated after processing the Uploaded File.
These Terms apply exclusively to use of the PDF Tools and supplement the general CMCopys Terms of Service where applicable.
2 Acceptance of Terms
IT Act 2000 §43A
By accessing or using the PDF Tools, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. Your continued use constitutes ongoing acceptance.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and CMCopys under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Amendment) Act, 2008.
If you are using the PDF Tools on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.
3 Description of Services
CMCopys PDF Tools provide browser-based document processing including:
- PDF merging, splitting, compression, and rotation
- Conversion between PDF, JPG/PNG, Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx), and PowerPoint (.pptx)
- Password protection and removal of PDF encryption
- Watermark addition to PDF documents
Service Availability
We provide the PDF Tools on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any tool at any time without prior notice.
File Size Limits
Standard users may upload files up to 100 MB per file. Processing of files exceeding this limit is not guaranteed and may fail without notice.
4 Eligibility & User Obligations
IT Rules 2021 Rule 4
Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years of age to use the PDF Tools. Minors between 13–18 may use the service only with verifiable parental or guardian consent.
- The service is intended for lawful personal, academic, and professional use within the territory of India and internationally where legally permitted.
User Obligations
You agree to:
- Upload only files that you own, or for which you have express written permission from the rights holder.
- Not use the PDF Tools to process unlawful, obscene, defamatory, or infringing content.
- Not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or circumvent the security of the Platform.
- Comply with all applicable Indian laws, including the IT Act 2000, DPDP Act 2023, and Indian copyright law.
5 File Upload & Processing
Your Responsibility for Uploaded Files
You are solely responsible for the content of files you upload. By uploading a file, you represent and warrant that:
- You are the lawful owner or authorised licensee of the file content.
- The file does not contain personally sensitive data of third parties without their consent, as defined under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act").
- The file does not contain material that infringes any third-party copyright, trademark, patent, or trade secret.
- The file does not contain malicious code, viruses, or harmful data.
Automatic Deletion
All Uploaded Files and Processed Files are automatically deleted from our servers within 2 hours of processing. We do not retain, review, or store your documents beyond this period except where required by law.
Encryption in Transit
All file transfers are encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. However, you acknowledge that no method of electronic transmission is 100% secure.
⚠ Warning: Do not upload Aadhaar numbers, PAN details, bank account information, passwords, medical records, or other sensitive personal data unless absolutely necessary and you understand the risks.
6 Prohibited Uses
IT Act 2000 §66, §67 IPC §509
You must not use the PDF Tools to:
- Process, distribute, or transmit obscene, pornographic, or sexually explicit content (punishable under §67 of the IT Act 2000).
- Forge, falsify, or tamper with official government documents, identity documents, or financial instruments.
- Reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit copyrighted works without authorisation under the Copyright Act, 1957.
- Upload or process any content that constitutes hate speech, incites communal violence, or is prohibited under Indian law.
- Attempt to hack, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to our systems (punishable under §66 of the IT Act 2000).
- Use automated bots, scripts, or scrapers to bulk-process files or circumvent rate limits.
- Engage in any activity that would expose CMCopys to civil or criminal liability under Indian law.
Violation of these prohibitions may result in immediate termination of access and may be reported to law enforcement authorities as required under Indian law.
7 Intellectual Property Rights
Copyright Act 1957
Our Intellectual Property
All software, algorithms, source code, UI/UX designs, logos, trademarks, and content comprising the CMCopys PDF Tools are the exclusive property of CM Copys and are protected under the Copyright Act, 1957 and applicable intellectual property laws. Unauthorised reproduction is prohibited.
Your Content
You retain all intellectual property rights in your Uploaded Files. By using the PDF Tools, you grant CMCopys a limited, temporary, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence solely to process your files for the purpose of providing the requested service. This licence expires automatically upon deletion of your files.
CMCopys does not claim ownership of any content you upload.
8 Data Protection & Privacy
DPDP Act 2023 IT Rules 2021
Your use of the PDF Tools is also governed by our PDF Tools Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
In accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023:
- We process personal data only to the extent necessary to deliver the service ("purpose limitation").
- We implement reasonable technical and organisational security measures to protect your data.
- We do not sell, rent, or commercially exploit your personal data or uploaded files.
- You have the right to access, correct, and request erasure of your personal data held by us.

9 Disclaimer of Warranties
The PDF Tools are provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that:
- The service will be uninterrupted, timely, or error-free.
- The Processed Files will be identical in quality, formatting, or content to the Uploaded Files.
- The service will be compatible with all operating systems, browsers, or file formats.
- Any errors in the service will be corrected.
Use of the PDF Tools is at your sole risk. You are responsible for maintaining backups of your original files.
10 Limitation of Liability
IT Act 2000 §79
To the maximum extent permitted under applicable Indian law, CMCopys, its proprietor, employees, or agents shall not be liable for:
- Any loss of data, documents, or files resulting from use or inability to use the PDF Tools.
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
- Any damages resulting from unauthorised access to or alteration of your files during transmission.
- Any loss of business, profits, or goodwill arising from reliance on the PDF Tools.
In any event, our total aggregate liability to you shall not exceed INR 500 (Indian Rupees Five Hundred only) or the amount you paid for services in the preceding 3 months, whichever is lower.
11 Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CMCopys, its proprietor, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, damages, penalties, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Your violation of these Terms.
- Your violation of any applicable Indian law or third-party rights.
- Your upload or processing of unlawful, infringing, or harmful content.
- Any action taken by any government authority or court in connection with your use of the PDF Tools.
12 Intermediary Liability
IT Act 2000 §79 IT Rules 2021
CMCopys operates as an intermediary as defined under Section 2(1)(w) of the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
As an intermediary:
- We do not initiate, select, or modify the content of files uploaded by users.
- We are not liable for third-party content processed through the PDF Tools, provided we act in good faith and in compliance with applicable law.
- We will cooperate with government authorities and court orders requiring disclosure of information.
- We reserve the right to remove or disable access to any content that violates applicable law or these Terms upon receiving actual knowledge of such violation.
13 Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of India.
Jurisdiction
Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the PDF Tools shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
Arbitration
Before initiating formal legal proceedings, both parties agree to attempt resolution through good-faith negotiation for a period of 30 days. If unresolved, disputes may be referred to arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996.
Consumer Disputes
Nothing in these Terms shall limit the rights of consumers under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, including the right to approach consumer dispute redressal commissions.
14 Grievance Redressal

In accordance with Rule 3(2)(b) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, we have appointed a Grievance Officer:

15 Modifications to Terms
CMCopys reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will post the updated Terms on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the PDF Tools after such modifications constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
For material changes, we will endeavour to provide at least 7 days' notice via a notice on the Platform or by email where contact details are available.
